How to Take Apart Your Jeep Safely

Learning how to take the doors of a Jeep takes a little bit of work, so be sure to read through our owner’s manual and give yourself plenty of space to work. Once you feel comfortable with the steps, here’s what you need to do:

  • Roll down the windows to protect the glass while your doors are in storage.
  • Remove the footwell under the dash or b-pillar to disconnect the wiring and the cables. Look for little clips to release the components.
  • Lift the door straps off the hooks gently.
  • Remove the door hinge bolt.
  • Slide the door from the body of the Jeep.
  • Store the doors in a cool, dry place until you’re ready to reattach them.

How to Take a Top Off a Jeep

Not only have you learned how to take the doors off your Jeep, but you can also learn how to remove the top. But, learning how to take a top off a Jeep is a much more intensive process than removing the doors. That’s because the roof is much more difficult to maneuver than the doors, and many Battle Ground drivers have trouble storing it properly. If you want to learn how to take the top off a Jeep, we recommend contacting our service department. We can give you pointers or even complete the process for you.
